Kennissen van mijn ouders hadden in 1953 een winkel aan de Lijnbaan. Zelf woonden ze boven de winkel en hebben in de watersnoodnacht in het trapgat vóór hoog water tot twee maal toe het water flink zien zakken. Hadden dit ook met krijtstrepen aangegeven op de muur. Jammer genoeg weet ik aantal cm's niet. Pas de volgende ochtend begrepen ze dat dit een gevolg was van het doorbreken van de dijken bij 's Gravendeel en Papendrecht. Ook bij de Noorderbrug in Dordrecht waar de situatie echt 'op het randje' was werd dit vastgesteld. Dat dankzij het twee maal zakken van het water Dordrecht voor een veel grotere ramp gespaard is gebleven is inderdaad zwaar onderbelicht.
Wat ik verder dan nog wel helder zie :) is op de voorgrond in het midden, Hoeve Stadtvlied en geheel links Brood- en Biscuitfabriek Excelsior (hoek Krispijnseweg-Brouwersdijk) en daar tussen in de Marnixschool.
Voorlangs de zijgevel met de op afschot liggende regenpijp, loopt de Brouwersdijk.
