Dordrechtsche Courant 2 oktober 1940: Aan de orde kwam het voorstel van B. en W. hen een crediet van f 115.000.— voor de verbetering van de Oranjelaan tusschen Noordendijk en Prins Hendrikbrug te verleenen, welke verbetering o.a. inhoudt, dat het wegdek een breedte van 36 meter krijgt, dat de spoorlijn omzoomd wordt door een 10 meter breede strook groen, dat de Vlijbrug door een dam met duiker wordt vervangen en dat, de aan weerszijden van den weg gelegen, balkgaten o.a. ten behoeve van den bouw van een schakelstation voor de koppelleiding naar Rotterdam en van de aan te leggen grondwaterleiding worden gedempt.
