Het werd in 1832 op 50 heipalen gebouwd. In 1943 werd de kerk door de Duitsers van zijn klok beroofd. De Rijsoordse burgerij schonk in 1947 de kerk weer een nieuwe klok. Het gebouw rechtsachter is het hoofdgebouw van “Het Wapen van Rijsoord”. Het pand dat ervoor staat is er niet meer, maar door het bord boven de deur toch wel interessant. Op het bord is in ieder geval "Bakker's Banden" te lezen. Dhr.Bakker, oorspronkelijk vlasbouwer en handelaar die kort door de bocht gezegd, een handel in het technisch rubber begon nadat er in de vlashandel niets meer te verdienen viel. Hij zette een fabriek op in de Molensteeg (1879) in Ridderkerk en zijn afzetgebied was niet beperkt tot alleen Nederland maar ook daarbuiten en stond internationaal bekend als "Nederlandsche Caoutchouc en Gutta Percha Fabriek St. Joris, Bakker & Zoon, at RIDDERKERK (Holland)." Lokaal stond het bedrijf bekend als de "zachte bakker". Wat het pandje hier betreft kan het natuurlijk zijn dat het om een pand van een wederverkoper of zo iets gaat. Vandaag vind je nog steeds een rubberfabriek in de Molensteeg, maar nu met de naam "Trelleborg". Via Google Books vind je nog diverse advertenties met zoekargument <bakker's banden> in verschillende uitgaven van De Kampioen (1907-1917).
