De panden daar zijn niet getroffen door bommen maar door zwaar geschutsvuur vooral vanaf de Zwijndrechtse brug waar boven aan de trap achter het muurtje (nog aanwezig) een zwaar geschut stond opgesteld. Een foto hiervan komt voor in een Dordts boek of beeldbank. De Duitsers hebben in de begindagen van mei 1940 niet 1 bom op Dordrecht losgelaten. Die vergissing wordt in ons Dordt en in de beeldbank maar al te vaak gemaakt.
via de zijgevel. Dit dubbele woonpand, nu met de huisnummers 47/49, is gebouwd op de plaats van het laatste pand in de rij van de in de 2e wereldoorlog door bommen getroffen panden. Dat vorige pand stond er overigens nog niet zo lang. Op afbeelding 555_15188 is het goed te herkennen aan de bogen op de begane grond. Op afbeelding 555_15007 is die woning, links tussen de woningen aan de Draai door, redelijk goed te zien. Terug naar 555_15188, wat verderop richting de draai, in het zelfde rijtje, het pand van de firma Brinkmann en Niemeijer, te herkennen aan de witte horizontale band halverwege de gevel. Op die witte band stond de naam geschreven. Misschien beter zichtbaar links op de achtergrond van afbeelding 555_15018. Na de oorlog is dit bedrijf op de punt van dit rijtje aan de Binnen Kalkhaven (t.o. Teerlink/Rivierzicht) terecht gekomen. Ik kan me de groen gelikte tetterende naar diesel riekende Listers en Petters nog wel herinneren. Deze vestiging van het van oorsprong Zutphens bedrijf (nu Twello) is voor Dordrecht niet behouden gebleven.
