We moeten hier niet zwart/wit denken maar zwart/rood ;) Inderdaad rechts op 193zw zat Donkelaar met de hier niet meer aanwezige bovenverdieping 193rd. Links daarvan 2 deuren voor de nummers 195 zwart en rood. Daar weer links van, weer 2 deuren, nu voor 197 zwart en rood. Uiterst links is nog net één deur te zien voor nummer 199. Ik kan niet zeggen of die deur 199rd of 199zw betreft. Zo kom ik dan tot een maximale nummering voor wat betreft deze foto, op 193 t/m 199. Geheel links woonde een oude dame, Maria Catharina Schippers (1868-1949) , de weduwe van Johannes Josephus Leopoldus de Vries, boven haar woonden 2 dames. Hun situatie was uiteraard na deze verwoesting verre van ideaal, maar konden de woning toch nog even aanhouden. Zo vertrok de boven wonende huishoudster C. van Eck in januari 1941 naar de Willem Marisstraat 7. De oude dame van beneden verhuisde in oktober 1941 van Singel 199zw naar de Grote Kerksbuurt 34rd, wat in die tijd het geheelonthoudersgebouw “De Toekomst” was. De betaling van schadeloosstelling wegens onteigening met betrekking tot de Wet Materiële Oorlogsschaden voor nummer 199 kwam ten goede aan de erfgenamen van Bastiaan Smaal.
Zelf denk ik dat het 191 t/m 199 moet zijn. Zo zat op nr 191, op de hoek met het Beverwijcksplein, Foto-, Kino-en Projectiehandel J. L. du Parant.
