De waltoren tussen Joppentoren en de Groothoofdspoort waar ik hieronder over sprak en te zien op de kaart van Blaeu had geen naam.
Dat riep meteen wel een vraag bij me op. Langs het water van wat nu de Wollewevershaven is liep de stadsmuur, voorzien van enkele torens tot tegen de Joppentoren aan. De straat liep langs de binnenkant van de muur richting Palingstraat. Maar vanuit onderzoek weten we dat de huizenrij van de Kuipershaven op de plaats van de stadsmuur is gekomen, zie bijv. 552_800977. De huidige straat ligt dan dus buiten die muur. Oftewel: de straat weergegeven door Van Deventer ligt ergens achter de huizen van de Kuipershaven. Is die straat later 'opgeschoven'?
