Het sportterrein heeft vanaf 1915 bestaan toen men besloot het voor 2000 gulden op te hogen en voor 1000 gulden te omheinen. Hadden ze voor het ophogen maar wat meer vrijgemaakt, want het was al die jaren een treurspel op dat veld doordat er vanwege wateroverlast niet op te spelen was. Parallel aan het sportterrein de Jacob Catsstraat. De eerste zijstraat links is de Vossiusstraat, de tweede de Camphuijzenstraat. Deze twee straten zouden worden doorgetrokken in het voormalig sportterrein. Rechts de Tesselschadestraat. Voor de Grotekerk het gebouw van de Verzekeringmaatschappij Dordrecht aan de Bellevuestraat later Refaja. Rechts daarvan de voormalige Lips brandkastenfabriek waarop dit moment van de foto de Centrale Werkplaats in gevestigd was. (Er zijn ook plannen geweest dat die hier op het sportterrein zou komen). Daarop volgend hei-installaties t.b.v. de Krispijntunnel.
