De kraagsteentjes (dragende steentjes) met kopjes hebben meestal een versierende functie, en beelden niet altijd iets of iemand uit. Wel kan men globaal zeggen dat ze vanaf de 17e eeuw in gebruik raken, terwijl oudere, soortgelijke Dordtse geveltje vaker figuratieve kraagstenen hebben, meer verwant aan de Gotiek (bijv. Wijnstraat 85).
Betr. inv.nr. 552_301203 Met zeer veel interesse heb ik uw site voor vele uren bekeken en ben op zoek gegaan naar informatie en foto's van mijn pandje aan de Hofstraat nummer 10. Het bijzonder karakter van dit pand is dat het pas in 1975 is opgebouwd c.q. herplaatst. Al jaren ben ik op zoek naar de herkomst van dit pand, c.q. de gevels. Men schrijft in de annotatie dat deze gevel, van oorsprong, kennelijk Kolfstraat 115, is verplaatst naar Hofstraat nummer 5. Dit is niet mogelijk, daar Hofstraat nummer 5, het adres is van de Statenschool. Ik ben echter van mening, althans dat hoop ik door U bevestigd te krijgen, dat ik nu de nieuwe eigenaar ben van deze gevel. De gevel van mijn pandje is exact die van deze foto. Daarnaast ben ik op zoek naar de betekenis van de "kopjes" op de gevel. Hoop van u iets te vernemen. Erik Smit
