Op 19 december 1924 werd de tanker, inmiddels omgedoopt tot "Peder Bogen", 's morgens om 9 uur te water gelaten, teneinde voor de motorisering naar N.V. Wilton Machinefabriek en Scheepswerf te Rotterdam gesleept te worden, d.w.z. om 9:00 uur begon men met de voorbereidingen daartoe en om 9:45 uur knipte mevr. Rasmussen, de echtgenote van de president van de Noorse rederij, het touw door wat het achterliggende mechaniek in beweging bracht om de laatste 4 grendels die het schip nog op zijn plek hielden om te halen en mede door de 4500 kg paraffine en 350 kg groene zeep en 4 hydraulische persen kwam het gevaarte in beweging. Uiteraard werd er ook een fles champagne tegenaan gegooid. Ondanks alle voorbereidingen die dit juist hadden moeten voorkomen, liep het 146,6 meter lange schip op Papendrechtse oever aan de grond. De drie aanwezige stoomsleepboten trokken het even later weer vlot. In 1933 werd het schip met behoud van naam doorverkocht. Een lang leven was het schip niet beschoren, want in 1942, in de avond van 23 maart werd het schip door 2 torpedo's van de Italiaanse onderzeeër "Morosini" getroffen waardoor het de volgende morgen zonk. Alle opvarenden, 53 in getal, overleefden het gelukkig.
De scheepswerf heette toen overigens nog "Dordrecht", en zou pas vanaf 1927 fuseren met de even verderop gelegen machinefabriek "De Biesbosch" (en onder die naam verder gaan).
