=================================================================== HARDINXVELD =================================================================== Naar wij vernemen bestaat er nog geen zekerheid waar de nieuw ontworpen rijksweg in deze gemeente den rivierdijk zal kruisen. Het is mogelijk dat dit plaats heeft bij de oude ìjzergieterij van de firma Versteeg, welk perceel door de gemeente is aangekocht. Op deze plaats staat nu het nieuwe Gemeentehuis. IJzergieterij van Hendrik Versteeg, gebouwd in 1899 had na enkele jaren al zo'n 30 mensen in dienst. Waarschijnlijk is de ijzergieterij met daarachter de motorenfabriek verhuisd naar Rivierdijk 827 omdat door de aanleg van de rijksweg in de jaren `30 ze niet meer aan open water lagen. De IJzergieterij en Motorenfabriek H. Versteeg kwamen na de verhuizing weer aan de rivier te liggen.
