Mogelijk had deze kerk een kloostergang en heeft de architect van het Bagijnhof dit inderdaad bijzondere element terug laten komen? Zou de architect , dhr. D.E.C. Knuttel, geweten hebben van de voormalige kerk gezien de architectuur van het Postkantoor met de twee torens? Een foto van de eerdere kerk heb ik ook nog niet kunnen vinden.
Meer dan de voorgevel kende ik tot nu toe niet van dit pand. Die trans is wel opvallend. De term en ook de plattegrond zelf lijken te wijzen op een overdekte gang en dat is nogal ongewoon voor een hofje. Stel dat we nog eens een foto van de binnenplaats vonden...
Het poortje was geplaatst in het midden van de mooie gevel aan het Bagijnhof ( op foto 551-35773, die Ton noemt ). Dit correspondeert met de plattegrond. Wat je schrijft over de locatie en dat er gedeelten van het Oude Bagijnhof in dit Oude -Vrouwenhuis waren terug te vinden beschrijft C.J.P. Lips op blz. 434 + 435. Hij schrijft kort samengevat dat de stadsregering voor dit tehuis inderdaad hun oog lieten vallen op het vroegere Bagijnhof. Zeer waarschijnlijk bleven gespaard: de woning van de meesteres wat regentessen-kamer werd en de keuken en het bakhuis. De poort is in 1624 geleverd door Jan Adriaanz. Vermeulen die ook de Oude Manhuispoort had gemaakt. Het vrouwtje blijkt niet meer origineel. Aanvankelijk had het vrouwtje een doodskop in haar hand wat later gewijzigd is in een soort tasje. Het gedicht op de Oude- Vrouwenhuispoort is van vadertje Cats. Dit opschrift komt nu niet helemaal tot zijn recht t.g.v. de wijziging. Wat een geschiedenis!
In het blauwe vierkant staat "Trans", als in (klooster-/verbindings-)gang.
Wel gezellig zo'n secreet :)) Drie op een rij. In 1860 kapten ze alles links van de poort weg t.b.v. de bouw van een gemeenteschool. Zie 552_400075. Het heeft van 1625 tot 1799 als Vrouwe Huys dienst gedaan, daarna nog als kazerne, soepkokerij en in 1840 deels ingericht als bewaarschool. Wat stelt het blauw ingekleurde vierkant in de tekening voor Jeroen? Ik lees daar 'Frans'?
Dit is het oude Bagijnhof!! Een opmetingstekening uit 1790 van Servaas Smak. Fan-tas-tisch! Nog nooit een opmeting van het oude Bagijnhof gezien tot nu toe!
