Rechts daarvan nog een klein stukje zichtbaar van een suikerraffinaderij wat eerder ook gewoon een woonhuis was waar eerder in de 17e eeuw mensen zoals Thomas de Witt heeft gewoond en ook mevrouw de Roovere. Twee panden vandaar stond de Wijnkoperskapel (1325) waarin later op een bepaald moment o.a. de IJzeren waag (1594) en de Engelse kerk (1656) tegelijkertijd gevestigd waren. Het eerste pand direct na de Wijnkoperskapel heette de Wijngaert. Daar weer naast, de woning van Johan van den Corput. Na zijn dood huwde Albert Cuyp zijn weduwe, Cornelia Bosmans en kwam daar te wonen. Toen in 1839 de Engels kerk was opgehouden te bestaan, zag het Dordtse bestuur haar kans waar en had dat prachtige rijtje vanaf ongeveer de Hengstensteiger (de voormalige Kleine Kraansteiger) tot Rijnenborg in 1841 met de grond gelijk gemaakd, dat ze daarmee o.a. ook een woning waar Albert Cuyp (15-11-1694†) vanaf zijn 53e een tijdje heeft gewoond liet verdwijnen, zou ze kennelijk een zorg zijn. Een aquarel van Rutte laat ons gelukkig nog een herinnering aan dit fameuze rijtje na, zie 552_230143 en voor Rijnenborg, 551_55088. Zie ook 552_231298. Dus ja, dit is de Wijnbrug gezien in de richting van de Beurs, het latere Scheffersplein en niet vanaf de Nieuwbrug maar vanaf de Kleine Appelsteiger.
Het torentje van de Engelse Kerk, waarvan het torentje naar de Waalse Kerk werd verplaatst, lijkt het mij niet te zijn, omdat dit gebouw slechts enkele panden van de Wijnbrug verwijderd stond. Het torentje wat op deze quarel staat hiervoor te ver weg.
Ook het grote dakvlak achter het op-de-brug-wachtende-mannetje is correct en betreft het oude Beursgebouw dat daar als een soort voorganger van het Scheffersplein over het water stond.
