De foto is gemaakt, net iets voorbij de Muys van Holygang,
Zie 556_3815 en 555_12040. Het lastige pand rechts vind je tegenwoordig op nummer 298 (Meander/Prokino).
Artikel met foto uit de Merwepost van 8-3-1924 heb ik opgeslagen.
Maar ik ben bang dat het niet een zijkant van een gevel betreft omdat ik op twee derde van de hoogte een balkonnetje of iets dergelijks meen te zien. Hou er rekening mee dat deze [552_195015-002] afbeelding gespiegeld kan zijn. Kan er zelf alleen geen chocola van maken :)
Bij een straat die (meestal iets later in de tijd) al inclusief stoep werd ontworpen, houden de bomen vaak rekening met de stoep, en staan er tegenaan (bijv 552_403895). Bij een oudere straat (type oud landweggetje) zie je vaker een sloot aan weerszijden. Als die gedempt worden en daar het relatief 'nieuwe' verschijnsel 'stoep' wordt aangelegd, zit je uiteindelijk opgescheept met een rij ietwat verweesde bomen die nu midden op de straat lijken te zijn neergezet; net als op deze foto. Maar dat heeft dus een historische oorzaak. Ik denk dus dat we moeten zoeken naar een straat waar vroeger twee sloten langs liepen. Wat denkt de rest?
In de jaren dertig kwamen er betonnen varianten. Toch zijn er zo hier en daar nog lang van deze gietijzeren variant blijven staan. Ik denk ook niet dat het de omschreven situatie aan de Samuel van Hoogstratensingel is. Al is het alleen al om het feit dat die villa een stuk verder naar achteren stond achter een berm, sloot, hek en tuin met gazon. Wat we hier rechts zien komt zelfs, zo lijkt het, de weg op.
Weet iemand of die typische lantaarnpalen nog op een andere foto van de Singel te zien zijn (of ergens anders)? Ik kon het zo gauw niet vinden.
(ik weet niet of dat het soort commentaar was waar je op zat te wachten, Ad...?)
Wellicht is de muur dan van deze koepel, hoewel eea niet echt overeen lijken te komen.
Het woonhuis werd bewoond door Parkopzichter Zomer, de koepel werd door de gemeente verhuurd. Beide zijn rond 1902 gesloopt. Deel overigens niet mening dat de muur rechts van Villa Parkzicht was. Wat het dan wel was ben ik nog aan het uitzoeken.
