Zo lezen we in de krant van 30-10-1866 ongeveer het volgende: Op 30 oktober 1866 zijn de heren ANDRIES DEN DUYTSEN, Schipper, en OTTO JOHANNES VERKERK een vennootschap aangegaan voor de uitoefening 'eener stoombootvaart' tot het vervoer van personen, goederen en vee en het slepen van schepen en vaartuigen op de Nederlandse rivieren met de aan hen toebehorende IJzeren Schroef-Stoomboot INDUSTRIE onder de firma Duytsen en Verkerk voor onbepaalde tijd ingaande op 15 augustus 1866. Ongeveer 2 jaar later neemt de weduwe van Verkerk, Sibilla Friengs het vennootschap van haar overleden man over. Maar ook deze samenwerking was geen lang leven beschoren, want op 23 maart 1869 overleed de weduwe op bijna 70 jarige leeftijd. De Industrie I voer tussen Dordrecht en Rotterdam (Oosterkade). Ook de Industrie III en VI voeren vanaf Dordrecht op Rotterdam. De Industrie II was een lichter de Industrie IV een sleepboot. In adresboeken wordt er ook een Industrie VII genoemd.
