We kijken over het Wantij naar 'De Punt', het industriele deel van de Maasstraat. Op de foto, links bij de torenkraan fa P.J. Brand (scheepsdieselmotoren) (nr.2), aansluitend scheepswerf van Bezemer (nr.1), dan jachtwerf Watergeus (nr.3), Jachtwerf De Combinatie (5a), Classificeerbedrijf Uytterschout (nr.5) en tussen de loods van Uytterschout en een helling van scheepswerf Biesbosch-Dordrecht torent de kraan van A.Goedhart & Zn (nr.6). (Machinist: Piet van de Graaf). Boven de loods van de Watergeus is nog een stukje dak van het woonhuis (nr.4)van Piet Brand zichtbaar. Het geheel is intussen tot een zandvlakte verworden in afwachting van het slaan van de eerste paal voor het project Stadswerven. Alleen de betonnen kraanbaan van Piet z'n kraan staat er nog omdat iemand vond dat het moest blijven staan als een monument ter herinnering aan de scheepsbouwactiviteiten in dit gebied. Op 15 juli 1992 werd de kraan van Piet m.b.v. een bokje van de kraanbaan getild en ten grave gevaren naar een sloperij ergens aan de Noord. De kraan heeft niets met scheepsbouw te maken gehad maar hij heeft er wel veel verlost van tonnen zand. Kijk ook eens naar afbeelding 552_330052 van 1984.
