Nog niet bewoond en net gereed en dat was rond 1955. De Centrale Merwedehaven was in 1954 voltooid met vier schoorstenen en op de foto staan die van de CM 2, de twee van de CM 1 staan achter de flat. Tussen de flat en de eengezinswoningen is de zuidkant van de machinezaal van de stroomfabriek te zien. Die flat aan de Giessenstraat is in 1969 afgebroken om plaats te maken voor de afrit van de rondweg. Maar was dat niet het geval dan nog. De flat was ernstig verzakt en ik begreep destijds ook daardoor niet meer te redden. Twee andere flats tussen de Beinemastraat en Merwedestraat werden wel van nieuwe fundaties voorzien door palen aan weerskanten van de buitenzijde de grond in te drijven als fundaties voor betonnen balken waarop de flats kwamen te rusten. De oude palen werden losgemaakt van het gebouw.
De twee schoorstenen zijn van de centrale welk in 1954 is voltooid. In 1970 stonden er twee nieuwe en hogere schoorstenen bij van de CM 3 en 4, een stuk meer naar rechts van de twee die op deze foto staan.
