Ad, heeft het voor mij opgenomen met tip van foto 555_22600. :) Deze foto was overigens ook bij mij bekend:) Ik heb ook weleens getwijfeld of de overlevering zich niet vergist had met het Chr. Mil. Tehuis maar kwam toen ook 555-22600 tegen. Het is inderdaad de vraag of het Chr. Mil Tehuis tijdens WO I al bestond. Mannen bedankt voor het enthousiaste en spontane meedenken! Leuk!
Denk je niet dat je opa het gebouw aan de overkant heeft bedoeld? Het Chr. Mil. Tehuis voor Militairen was daar op de hoek Veersteiger/Buitenwalevest gevestigd. Vanaf wanneer dat het dat precies was kan ik zo snel niet terug vinden, maar in het AB van 1916 stond het al geregistreerd als verloflokaal. Zie 555_10337.
