Misschien staat hij er al sinds Hermanus Boet, een meester metselaar, architect en gemeenteraadslid de voordeursleutel aan z'n broekriem had hangen.

De Maaskamers lijken me zeker ook wel op te vatten als theekoepels, maar de situatie is natuurlijk helemaal anders dan in de 19e eeuwse Schil. Hier stonden ze dicht bij, of waren onderdeel van het huis. In de Schil ging het denk ik meer om buitenverblijven, bedoeld om de stad uit te zijn en daar de dag door te brengen, genietend van het groen.
Nummer 43 bezit bijvoorbeeld nog een bijna geheel losstaand bouwwerkje in de tuin.
Zo is bijv. ook het verloop van verdwenen binnengrachten of stadsmuren nog altijd aanwijsbaar. Ik heb daar bij die erker ook wel eens aan gedacht, en de verklaring van Jeroen lijkt me helemaal niet onlogisch. Er zijn in deze beeldbank wel meer foto's die net als deze een soort tussenstadium tonen, een tot winkel verbouwde koepel waarbij de koepel al bijna erker geworden is.
Het uitbouwtje van Spuiweg 75 is daarvan een mooi voorbeeld; het pand is beduidend nieuwer en het uitbouwtje is nu een erker, maar het is waarschijnlijk terug te voeren op één van de vele theekoepels die langs deze weg stonden. Waar bij de andere buurpanden de rooilijn werd rechtgestreken, is de vorm van het eigendom hier jarenlang om een of andere reden bewaard gebleven.
Een meer recente theekoepel, maar ook leuk, staat aan de Taankade tussen de Turfsteiger en de Distelsteiger.
