t.t.v. de opening in 1939 woonachtig aan de Patersweg 33rd. In 1923 raakte de vuilnisbelt aan de Gravendeelsedijk vol en men week uit naar een moerassig stuk land aan de Kilkade. In 1933 raakte ook dit gebied vol en begon men aan een afvalverbrandingsinstallatie te denken. Als locatie had men het Beverwijcksplein in gedachte maar dit stuitte op groot verzet. Uiteindelijk werd de afvalverbrandingsinstallatie op 25 mei 1939 te 3 uur n.m., binnen 2 jaar na de goedkeuring van de plannen en ruim een jaar na de aanvang van de bouw, de afvalverbrandingsinstallatie officieel geopend. Deze installatie heeft behoudens een kleine onderbreking in 1945 34 jaar lang dienst gedaan. In al die jaren veranderde er niets aan de installatie. De ovens bleken betrouwbaar en efficiënt. Er waren weinig grote reparaties nodig.
