Groenmarkt 1, destijds 5 waar nu Scheffer's Huyskamer Eetcafé is gevestigd. Hier was destijds het secretariaat-Noordhove, 5e afdeeling gevestigd. Er verbleven, naast Noordhove zelf, ook op ander plaatsen in Dordt Belgische vluchtelingen zoals b.v. in lokalen op de Riedijk en in de Barmhartigheidspost in de Nieuwstraat en het gebouw Vincent Eras, Varkenmarkt. Het pand op de Groenmarkt was beschikbaar sinds de Sociëteit „De Vriendschap” haar deuren daar in mei 1913 voor het laatst sloot wat het Comité Noordhove goed uitkwam. Sociëteit „De Vriendschap” kwam voort uit de omtrent 1790 in de Dwarsgang opgerichte Sociëteit „De Prentenkamer”, later gevestigd op de hoek Bagijnhof/Sarisgang. Weer later verhuisden zij naar de Groenmarkt 65, naar het het Koffijhuis Koophandel en Zeevaart (J.C. van der Horst), echter steeds weer in gehuurde zaaltjes. In de Franse tijd werd de sociëteit omgedoopt naar "De Stad Parijs", althans, dat wil men doen geloven wanneer je oude kranten erop napluist, maar ik twijfel daar aan omdat de vorige uitbater van het koffiehuis van Van Der Horst, Jan Schrauwen, zijn koffiehuis "Stad Parijs" noemde en de sociëteit reeds toen daar al in gevestigd was. De nummering van dat pand was in die tijd A 205/206, later dus 65. De sociëteit kreeg ruzie met de kastelein (dat moet intussen Van Der Horst zij geweest) en zag zich genoodzaakt om zich heen te gaan kijken voor een ander onderkomen. Zij slaagden er in 1856 in het pand aan de Groenmarkt 5 aan te kopen. Na het nodige werk werd het pand op 7 januari 1857 door de Sociëteit betrokken.
