Rond 1782 heette de molen De Ooievaar, rond 1816 De Esseboom, rond 1846 De Lindentak, in 1867 De Middelburg I. In 1905 werd de molen aangekocht door de gemeente Dordrecht. In februari 1906 was de molen verdwenen. Mogelijk ten gevolge van kruiend ijs was de molen opgelicht en zo zwaar beschadigd, dat hij gesloopt moest worden. De molen stond aan het einde van de 's-Gravendeelsedijk tussen de boezemsluis van de Wieldrechtse polder en oliemolen Het Klaverblad.
