Ik bied je mijn veronschuldiging aan. Je hebt volkomen gelijk, nadat ik mijn echtgenote er bij hebt gehaald. Heeft gedurende 1943-1948 in de Berckenpoort gewoond,haar meisjesnaam is Lijda Mulder. De foto 554 - 32331 geeft duidelijk de oplossing met de gevels.
Ik snap de verwarring zeker, maar dit is toch echt de Nieuwstraat, vanuit de Hofstraat. En op het strookje van het pand links na, is alles gesloopt. Misschien helpen foto's 554_32331 en 556_1182 om het een en ander te plaatsen. Zelfs op foto 555_11530 zijn de panden -in de verte- te zien. Rechts is inderdaad niet de Berckepoort, maar het pand dat daar tot (uit mijn hoofd) 1911 nog tegenaan stond. Ja, slopen is iets van alle tijden. Daarom is de huidige zijmuur van de B-poort zo kaal... hij is nooit als buitenmuur bedoeld geweest! Men kan er zelfs nog enkele gemetselde sporen van boogjes in vinden, die vroeger geen vensters waren, maar doorgangen naar het allang gesloopte (en inderdaad verrassend weinig gefotografeerde) buurpand.
