Jude Yskamp died peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2003 at her home in Grasonville, MD after a short illness. She was 58. Born Jeltje Kiefte on October 25, 1944 in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Aria Groenendijk Kiefte. She immigrated to the United States in December 1956 with her parents, three sisters, and a brother. They resided in Hawthorne, New Jersey. ---- Ms Yskamp, known lovingly to friends and family as "Jude", attended Hawthorne High School and Rittanella School of Beauty. A fine hair stylist, she worked in various salons during her career. In 1964 she married Peter Yskamp in North Haledon, New Jersey. They were later divorced. Their son, Marcus J Yskamp, currently resides in Desert Hot Springs, CA. ---- During the 1980’s, Jude moved to the Miami, Fl area and since 1986 she has resided on Kent Island, MD where she met her life partner, Scott Barbee. They enjoyed a rich life as part of a boating community, sharing their love of family, friends, food, nature, and sailing. Their sailboat was their home except during the coldest months, which they spent with family in Grasonville, MD. --- Her intense vitality and love of life inspired and deeply touched the lives of her beloved family and many friends. Incredibly creative and multi-talented, her passions included sailing, gardening , cooking, reading, entertaining, and decorating. These enabled Jude to hold a variety of jobs during her tenure on Kent Island. Until the time of her death, Jude and Scott enjoyed the antiquing business. They traveled together, attending shows in many states while making good friends with others in the antiquing community. In addition to her son, Marc Yskamp, and partner Scott Barbee, Ms Yskamp is survived by her sisters, Anne Padalino of St. Augustine FL, Jan Larson of Worthington,MN and Miriam Intres of Marion, NC; her brother, Henk J. Kiefte of Flat Rock, NC; five nephews and three nieces, and a number of very close friends. Her parents and one nephew preceded her in death. A memorial visitation will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., Chester, MD on Monday, March 17, 2003 between the hours of 5 PM and 7 PM. --- Inurnment will be private.
