De hoofdtaken van de Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten (BS) tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog waren het coördineren van het verzet, het bijdragen aan de bevrijdingsgevechten en het handhaven van de openbare orde. Zij hebben veel voor de bevrijding van ons land betekend. Organisatie en Taken: De Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten bestonden uit twee hoofdonderdelen met elk een eigen taak: - Stoottroepen: Dit bewapende deel nam deel aan de laatste gevechten om Nederland te bevrijden, vaak in samenwerking met de geallieerde legers of vanuit reeds bevrijd gebied. - Bewakingstroepen: Deze groep richtte zich op de ordehandhaving na de bevrijding, het bewaken van belangrijke objecten en het oppakken van collaborateurs en NSB'ers.
